Sound Summit is looking for a creative, energetic and highly organised individual to work with the current Festival Co-Director, Andrew Tuttle, alongside the Sound Summit Advisory Group, and MusicNSW on the 2010 festival.
Sound Summit exists to give musicians, producers, composers, promoters and fans the opportunity to interact, reflect and collaborate with each other, building communities around what they do and exploring the methodologies of why and how they do it. The festival explores the depths and reach of independent, innovative music in Australia.
Sound Summit is part of the This Is Not Art (TINA) festival that happens annually for five days over the October long weekend. It is held in Newcastle, NSW, along with Electrofringe, National Young Writers Festival, Critical Animals and Crack Theatre Festival.
For further information on this position and for application guidelines, please download the document below this post. The application deadline is COB Monday 8th February 2010.
A big thank you to everyone who came to Newcastle and participated in Sound Summit this year, as a performer, speaker or punter.
Over five days and twenty six panels, performances and presentations we’ve learned so much, and been inspired from what we’ve seen and heard; and we hope this was the case for you too.
If anyone has any photos, audio, video or recollections of the festival, we’d love to see them to relive the fabulous memories of Sound Summit in 2009. Send anything you have through to andrew[at]musicnsw[dot]com.
I’m sitting here with my gut stuffed with pancakes after watching Ian Svenonious’ Soft Focus, watching a PACKED panel – Passion Projects: Future Folklore and Niche Output. It’s absolutely inspiring to have people like blink, Guy Blackman, Shaun Prescott and Nadia Mizner talking about what they do and why the do it. Totally vibing the practical, functional idealism.
If you’re reading this and you’re in Newcastle – up next, Commercial Viability with a Community Focus with Red Rattler folk, Alexandra Savvides from Cyclic Defrost, Evan Kaldor from FBi Radio and Paul Mason from the Australia Council. Come down!
Sound Summit 2009 starts today, which is incredibly exciting.
