HISTORY

Founded in 2000, Sound Summit is an annual conference for independent artists, labels and people interested in workingand playing in electronica and hip-hop. 2006 saw Sound Summit become a key project for MusicNSW, the state Music Association for contemporary artists and industry. Over the last 11 years Sound Summit has evolved from being the National Independent Labels Conference into the multi-faceted festival/conference it is today. Throughout that whole time it has existed to explore and support brilliant, independent music from Australia and abroad, and to promote accessibility and skill sharing within independent music  -  continuing to broaden genre horizons in 2010 hasn't changed that one bit. The eternal question for Sound Summit? Can we be intellectual about the music we dance to? The answer, every time? Hell yeah. In the last decade Sound Summit has showcased the most exciting acts from around the world, including Anticon (DoseOne, Jel, Sole), Hrvatski, Ghislain Poirier, Gorky, Lucky Dragons, Mount Eerie, Cotti, Aloe Blacc, Freq Nasty, Ariel Pink, Kevin Blechdom, Sage Francis, Manitoba (Caribou), Mad Professor, Ducktails, Pumice. For the next decade expect something doubly mind blowing.
